You'll see this error if you're trying to add a session to a session group after registration is under way. There are two ways to get around it.

Unregister the session registrants
If only a handful of people registered for the session you're trying to add to a session group and there's no fee, unregister them from that session and start over.

1 From the left-hand navigation, click Attendees, then Attendee List.
2 Next to the search bar, click Advanced Search.
Scroll down to the Agenda Items section and select Registered for the following items from the Search by Agenda Item dropdown.
4 Select the session you're trying to add to a session group from the second dropdown.
5 Click Search.
6 Click the checkbox in the top-left to select everyone.
7 Hover over Bulk Actions and select Update Session Registrants
8 From the Update Method dropdown, select Unregister all from a session
9 Click Select beside your session. If you're charging for this session, skip to the next solution.
10 Switch "Send session cancellation emails" to No to avoid triggering an email.
11 Click Confirm.
12 Add the session to your session group, then re-register the invitees for that session, or email them instructions on how to do it themselves.

Duplicate the session
If unregistering everyone from the session would be a hassle, duplicate it, add the copied session to the session group, then hide the existing one. Keep in mind, the two sessions will appear separately in reports.

1 From the left-hand navigation, click Agenda, then Session List.
2 Hover over the User-added image to the right of the session you want to copy, and click Duplicate....
3 Remove "Copy of" from the name.
4 Enter a new data tag code.
5 Click Save.
6 Click Close.
7 Open the original session by clicking its name.
8 Click Edit.
9 Scroll down to Status & Capacity and switch "Open for registration" to No.
10 Scroll down to Display Options and switch "Display on agenda" to No.
11 Click Save.
12 Add the duplicated session to your session group.
