The best marketing is marketing you don't have to do yourself. Follow the steps below to allow your invitees to share your event on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn directly from your event's website.

 
NOTE: Though it's easy to mix them up, the share bar, share prompt, and follow bar are distinct features that work together to promote your company and event.
 
 In a Flex Event

1 Access the Site Designer. Begin by selecting your Flex event. To go to the website, hover over Website & Registration and, under Website, click Event Website. For registration, hover over Website & Registration and, under Registration, click Registration ProcessSelect a registration path from the Registration Paths dropdown, if necessary.
 
Click Customize to the right of the page you want to add the share function to.
 
2 Add the Share Bar widget.
To the right of the canvas, click Build, and more options will appear. Scroll down to the Page Elements section, and drag and drop the "Share Bar" widget onto the canvas.
In the Display Options section to the right, click Customize. Toggle the social media sites you would like to share your event on to green.

3 Establish the configuration options. Establish how the posts will be displayed.
 
 
NOTE: If you're also using share prompt, these settings will display there as well.
 
To add an image, click Add Image.
Open a folder from the Media Library, then select the image. If adding a new image, click User-added image, then Browse Files. Locate the image, double click it, select a folder if necessary, and click Upload. Click Continue, and select the image. Click the back arrow in the top-left to return to the Display Options.

Enter the post's title and in the "Post Text" field, enter the text that will display on Facebook and LinkedIn. For Twitter, enter the text in the "Twitter Post Text" field and then the event's hashtag.

Click the back arrow.
 
4 Add tracking. Track how many invitees shared your event by adding a reference ID. Make sure it's one you will remember, since it will display in reports.


Once you're done, click Save to preserve the draft, or click Publish to make it visible to invitees.

In a Classic Event

1 Access the Social Media Sharing tab. Begin by selecting your Classic event. Hover over Promotion & Communication and, under Web, click Social Media.

2 Establish what event information will display. Click Edit. To add an image, click Browse Library.... Double click the folder, then the file. Don't see your image? Open a folder and click Add File to locate the file on your computer or network.

Enter the post's title and text that will display on Facebook and LinkedIn. Under Twitter Post Details, enter the tweet text, then the event's hashtag.
 
 
NOTE: Don't panic if your don't see your changes right away. When updating the social media settings, it usually takes Facebook 7 - 10 business days for the sites to display the latest info. Need it to appear faster? Help Facebook with the process.
 
3 Activate the share bar. In the Share Bar section, ensure Yes is selected next to "Display share bar," then click Change Placement to determine where the bar will display on your event's website.

Track how many invitees shared your event by adding a reference ID. Make sure it's one you will remember, since it will display in reports.

Click Save.
