Discover your invitee's needs and expectations before, during, or after the event with questions. Once added, your invitees can respond to the questions you want answered as they register or through a survey. Know dietary needs before you book the caterer. Let panel speakers know what their audience wants to hear. Get your waiver agreements without attendees even having to walk through the door. You can also attach questions to individual sessions, admission items, and travel requests ensuring your invitees are never asked anything that doesn't apply to them.

These instructions are for the Classic Experience. For the New Experience, reference this article instead.

NOTE: Invitees can modify their answers following registration by logging into the event website with their confirmation numbers.

1 Access the Site Designer. Begin by selecting your Flex event. Hover over Website & Registration and, under Registration, click Registration Process. Select a registration path from the dropdown, if applicable. To the right of the page you want to add your questions to, click Customize.

NOTE: If this is your first time accessing the Site Designer, you may need to click Finished in the Quick Setup window to progress.

2 Add a question. On the right-hand side of the designer, click Build. Scroll down to the Questions section, then click and drag the type of question you want to create onto the canvas. Your options include:
  • Choice Questions allow registrants to select from a list of pre-determined options. Display choices include a single answer list or multiple answer list.
  • Text Questions allow registrants to type out any general text. Display choices include a text field or comment box.
  • Date & Time Questions allow registrants to enter in a specific date and time. Display choices include both date and time, or date only.
  • Consent Questions provide your registrants the ability to give consent to use their data, allowing you to abide by GDPR policies and requirements.
  • Number Questions allow registrants to enter only numerical answers. You can choose if you need the answer format to be numerical, decimal, or a currency.
  • File Upload Questions allow registrants to upload a file or image during registration.

NOTE: If allowing your registrants to upload a profile image or head shot, use the Profile Image Widget instead.

3 Customize the styling options. The question's Styling and Configuration options will appear to the right. Determine how the widget will display, including the color, font size, and other style settings of each section, by clicking Customize under the Styling Options section. To return back, click the arrow to in the top left of the editor.

In the Question section, enter your question text and determine the label placement. Toggle "Required" to green if you want to ensure this question is answered.

4 Choose who should see the question based on an agenda item, if necessary. Only need this question to appear when invitees and guests register for a specific admission item or session? In the Visibility Settings section, click Show for an Agenda Item, and toggle "Limit visibility by admission items or session" to green. Select the admission item or session you want the question to be associated to from the dropdown.

NOTE: Currently, a Flex event question can only be associated to one admission item or session at a time.

To return back, click the arrow to in the top left of the editor. To further limit who can view the question, in the Visibility Settings section, click Show for Specific Registrants. Determine whether this question will display when all criteria is met or only a single condition applies. Click Add Criteria. Select a contact or custom contact field from the first dropdown, choose an operator from the second dropdown, and enter a value in the textbox. For example, if you want this question to only appear for New Yorkers and no one else, your formula would be: State equals New York.

To return back, click the arrow to in the top left of the editor.

Or, choose who should see the question based on a travel widget, if necessary. Only need this question to appear when invitees and guests book a travel accommodation? In the Visibility Settings section, click Connect with a Travel Widget, and toggle "Limit visibility by a travel widget" to green. Select the air actual, flight request, or hotel request to be associated to from the dropdown.

If you only want the question to appear when invitees and guests decline to book a travel accommodation, check the box next to "Make this an alternate question."

Click the arrow in the top-left to return to the question settings.

NOTE: You must have a travel widget added to the canvas in order to associate a question to travel. Alternate questions must be placed on a separate page of registration after the travel widget.

5 Establish how the answer choices will display. In the Response section, determine how the choices will display, their choice options, and how the choices behave. These will change depending on the question type you've added.

Under Settings, enter a question code, if necessary, determine if the answer will display in data tags, and give the question a name that will appear in reporting, if necessary.

6 Save your work. Once you're done, click Save to preserve the draft or click Publish to make it visible to invitees. Have multiple registration paths? You will need to repeat this process for each one.

NOTE: If you need to add the same question to a registration path instead, hover over the question, and in the top left corner, hover over the ellipsis (...) and click Duplicate to another page. Establish which page group and page the question will be copied to.
