Need to upload oodles of content, but don’t have the time to add everything individually? Sessions, speakers, organizations, pages, geo locations, notifications, and attendees can all be added in bulk. You can even create groups and limit access to content while importing. Quickly add as much content as necessary by following the steps below.

NOTE: Maps, banners, and content attachments, such as PDFs and images, must be added one at a time.

Importing New Content

1 Access the appropriate content page. After you have logged in to the EventCenter, click your event's name. Select the type of content you want to upload from the Content section of the Event Checklist.

2 Check the requirements. Click Import, but don’t download the template just yet.

Instead click View Documentation to check which fields are required. Be sure to read the notes for additional tips on formatting.

Once you’re done, click Back.

3 Enter your data. Click the links in the first section of the pop-up to download a CSV or Excel file. If you're a Windows user, Excel is the best option. Fill out the template and save it.

NOTE: Do not edit, remove, or rearrange any column headers in the template. Otherwise, you will receive an error message when you import the file.

A Unique ID is required for everything you're importing. Don't worry. This is a backend field. Attendees will never see it. The values entered in this column will be used to differentiate one content item from another. There is no required format. You can even use a single number (1, 2, 3, and so on).

NOTE: If you're importing sessions, don't forget to include your speakers. They will be automatically added to the Speakers section of your event and a link will be created between the two pages.

4 Import the file. Back in CrowdCompass, click Choose File to locate the file on your computer or network. Then click Start Import.

Everything go through without a hitch? Click Close.

5 Make changes and re-import, if necessary. If you see red text, something didn’t import. Consult the table for the row that was skipped and the reason why. Make the necessary changes in your spreadsheet, save, and re-submit by clicking Choose File, then Upload. Just want to manually enter the skipped rows? Click Skip Errors instead.

NOTE: To check the status of a pending import or view the details of a prior one, click your initials at the top of the side nav, then Import History.

Importing Content Updates

1 Access the appropriate content page. After you have logged in to the EventCenter, click your event's name. Select the type of content you want to update from the Content section of the Event Checklist.

2 Export your data. Click Export, then Export once more.

Export Event Data

An email with your current content template will be sent to your inbox.

NOTE: Just need to export event data without making any changes? Stop here. For example, you can export the Invited Attendees template to determine which groups each attendee belongs to, or the Sessions template to figure out which sessions have a specific tag.

3 Update the file. Once you've received the file in your inbox, open it and make your desired changes.

NOTE: Do not change any of the Unique IDs. Otherwise, duplicate records will be created.

If you need to import new data as well, add it to the template starting on the first available blank line. Make sure to give your new content records a Unique ID that has not yet been used. Otherwise, your existing data will be overwritten.

When you're finished, save the updated file.
