If you don't want to assign all the contact types yourself, you can allow invitees to select their own registration types by following the steps below.

NOTE: These instructions are for Classic events. If you’re creating a Flex event, reference this article instead.
1 Access the Identification & Security tab. Begin by selecting your event. Hover over Website & Registration and, under Registration, click Registration Settings. If applicable, select a path.

The Basic Settings tab will open by default. Click the neighboring tab, Identification & Security, then Edit.

2 Adjust the registration type selection options. Scroll down to the Registration Type Selection section, and switch "Invitees can select their registration type" to Yes.

Additional options appear beneath it. Select whether registration types are required for registration. If you choose No and an invitee does not choose a registration type, they will get the default path and pricing. Select whether changes to the registration type will update their contact type in the Address Book. Choose No if invitees will only be a certain registration type for a single event.

Establish how invitees will select their registration type. Your options include:

  • Selecting it from a dropdown - Invitees will see a list of all the available registration types and choose the one that applies to them.

  • Selecting it from a radio button list - Invitees will see a set or radio buttons and choose the one that applies.

  • Entering a contact type code into a text box - Invitees must type the code you entered when creating the contact type. If using this option, you need to provide the code to your invitees.

  • Going through a custom process - Specific rules will determine the invitee's registration type.

Click Add Registration Types..., check all of the registration types that invitee's can select from, then click OK.

Once you're done, click Save. If necessary, do this for each registration path.
