After adding membership items and associating the appropriate contact types, you can make purchasing dues during registration optional or required by following the steps below.

NOTE: This feature is only available in Classic events.

1 Access the Optional Items section. Begin by selecting your event. Hover over Event Details and, under Agenda Items, click Optional Items

2 Add membership items to your event. Click Create Optional Item to launch the Optional Item Creation Wizard.

Select Membership Item, then click Next.

NOTE: Not seeing this option? You must enable fees by going to Event Details > General > Event Configuration and under Pricing, check Fees.

Use the dropdowns to select the membership type and item. Describe the membership item in the provided textbox.

Click Finish.

NOTE: When an invitee purchases a membership item during an event registration, they will automatically be switched to the contact type associated to the membership type. If the contact type has not been added as a registration type in the event, the invitee will receive all fees and items for the default registration type in the event.

3 Make membership purchase required, if necessary. Hover over Website & Registration and, under Registration, click Registration Settings. If you have multiple registration paths, select one.

The Basic Settings tab opens by default. Click the Item Selection tab to the right, then click Edit.

Scroll down to the Membership Items section.

You can require registrants to purchase or renew membership by clicking Yes beside the first two options.

Don't forget to click Save. If you have multiple registration paths, be sure to repeat this step for each one that should require membership purchase or renewal.
