After adding hotels, you'll still need to add rooms. Follow the steps below to ensure your invitees have something to request.

1 Access the Hotel Details page. Begin by selecting your event. Hover over Event Details and, under Travel, click Hotel Accommodations. Select your hotel by clicking its name.

2 Create a room type. Click Create Room Type. Name the room type and select the default check-in and check-out dates. Enter the minimum number of nights an invitee can book for. Ensure "Open for registration" is switched to Yes.

NOTE: Default check-in and check-out dates are the dates that will automatically populate in the room request details. They do not affect the availability of rooms.

Specify whether registrants will be sharing the room, the number of occupants per room, and how these rates will be charged (a flat nightly fee or different prices for each registration type).

Enter the number of rooms that are available. Add room rates for each registration path if you selected to calculate room rates by registration type.

Click Save.

Click the neighboring tab, Advanced Settings, then Edit. If you've set up room rates, switch "Charge registrants for this hotel room" to Yes. If the room is free, leave this as No.

Select which registration paths will apply to this room type by checking the boxes next to the paths.

Click Save. Your room type is added and your work is done, unless you want to manage a room block.

3 Create a room block, if necessary. Avoid attrition penalties by tracking your room blocks in Cvent. You can combine multiple room types and their capacities into one block, use sub-blocks to reserve a portion of the rooms for specific registration types, or both.

NOTE: This feature is only available in Classic events.

Click Close, then Manage Room Block. Enter capacities in the textboxes under each date. When room types are combined, the capacities are added together. When room blocks are separated, the combined capacity will stay with the first room type.

To combine room types, check the boxes under the Select column and click Combine.

4 Add sub-blocks, if necessary. In the Room Sub-Blocks section, click Create Sub-Block. Select a room type and registration type from the dropdowns. Use the text boxes to specify how many rooms to reserve per night.

Click Save.
